Blues at Orinda - Cecilia Long

“Cecilia has a voice that rings like a trumpet, a presence that smokes like a sax, rhythm that’s true as a drum: she’s the whole jazz combo in one talented package!” —Kansas City Jam Magazine

”A bit of Broadway and a whole lot of jazz in the vocal style of Cecilia Long…her enunciation is as clear as moonshine and with just as much wallop! Cecilia possesses clever phrasing and “ from the soul” lyric interpretation.” —John Gilbert, Ejazznews.com

“Cecilia’s unique jazz style impressed everyone…an inspiring performance!” — Kuystendil News, Kuystendil Bulgaria

By infusing standards with a new depth of feeling and engaging her audience in a sea of emotions, vocalist Cecilia Long has captured the attention of jazz and blues aficionados around the globe. –Ronnie Wells, Washington D.C. The Washington, DC, native has brought her impressive voice and talent for storytelling to venues in the Bay area and abroad: the Herbst Theater, Zingari Jazz lounge; Yoshi's Lounge; The Plush Room, the Hotel Drim in Struga, Macedonia, the East Coast Jazz Festival as well as rooms in Paris and New York. Cecilia grew up listening to jazz and blues legends and honed her chops in the true vocal tradition of singing, scatting and improvising at local jams. Music heavyweights on both coasts took notice: Cecilia counts Grady Tate, Ronnie Wells and Raz Kennedy among her illustrious mentors and has performed with a whose-who of contemporary jazz greats including George Colligan, Vince Lateano, YaYa, Buster Williams, Art Khu, and Tammy Lynne Hawkins. A talented actress and storyteller as well as singer, she's played the lead in “Sparky Infusion,” George Coates’ Blind Messenger and Charles Blackwell’s “Respectfully Yours" and taught arts seminars to high school students in the US and in Kyustendil, Bulgaria and Struga, Macedonia. She's also received airplay on WPFW in Washington, DC; been a featured artist on RCV 99 in Lille, France and appeared on news programs in Kuystendil, Bulgaria and Ohrid, Macedonia.
